Russell Saunders

Russell is a founder and director of Spoon. He designs and delivers innovative programmes that improve the every day working lives of people from every field of work.

Russell has worked extensively with individuals, small companies and with large multinational organisations such as Philips, Fortis, Lloyds, Mexx and GSK on issues such as Engagement, Leadership Development, Teambuilding and Culture Change. He coaches executives and facilitates groups ranging in size form 5 to 500.

Russell began his career as a professional tennis player. He then trained as an actor and TV presenter at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. The discipline, insight and skills learned from his sports and performance experience inform all his work in business.


Russell believes that everyone has the ability to communicate clearly, powerfully and persuasively. He shares techniques from the performing arts to enable people to dramatically improve their communication, presentation and impact skills.


Russell combines his passion for inclusive working with his deep understanding of group dynamics to help businesses create high performing teams and groups.


Russell helps individuals and leadership teams articulate a vision that will engage and develop others to meet defined business objectives. He designs complete programmes and offers personal coaching. His work is informed by the insight gained from his experience in business, sports and performance.


Russell places the needs of the organisation at the centre of the programmes he creates. These encourage both individuals and the organisation to flourish in service of one another. He helps organisations develop and communicate stories that powerfully engage their whole workforce.
